KAPIT: Two young archers from Kapit will represent Sarawak at the National level Age Group Outdoor Archery Competitions in Kelantan from Aug 6 to 10.
The archers are Tan Ing Ching and Kong Seng Chen in the U-12 category, and the duo will be sponsored by the Kapit Division Archery Association.
This is the first time that young athletes from Kapit have been selected for national level competition.
They also took part in the State Level Age Group Outdoor Archery Competitions in Kuching from July 9 to 12.
Four boys and three girls competed in the U-12 category while five archers, consisted of one boy and four girls competed in the U-18.
Archery is relatively new in Kapit. The association has been aggressively promoting the sport, especially in schools.
Meanwhile, association chairman Ting King Yiing disclosed that Kapit would host the State Level Open Archery Competition at Bletih Stadium in November.
The competition is expected to attract archers from all over the country.
