Police rule out foul play in man’s death

MIRI: Police have ruled out foul play in the death of Abdah Abon whose body was found in the master bedroom of his house at Jalan Pujut Satu here yesterday.

Acting district police chief DSP Aldrin Junaidi Kutoi said early investigation found no criminal elements in the death of the 40-year-old who is suspected to have committed suicide.

“The body was found in the master bedroom by a sister-in-law of the deceased around 11.30am with a rope tied around his neck.

“No signs of struggle or weapon that can be used to bring injuries or death were found at the scene,” said Aldrin.

Aldrin said the house belongs to the deceased who lived with his wife, child and sister-in-law.

During the incident, the wife and child were at their village in Bekenu to collect palm fruits.

“Medical officers who came to provide assistance confirmed the deceased died around 11.45am.

“The deceased’s body was taken to Miri Hospital for a post-mortem and the case is still under investigation,” he added.
