KUCHING: Sarawakians can now channel information on illegal gambling activities directly to the state police headquarters here following the setting-up of a special operations room.

Sarawak CID chief SAC Denis Leong said the operations room will be manned on a 24-hour basis to enable the public to forward information on illegal gambling for immediate action to be taken.

“The Special Operations Room will be manned around the clock. The information will be collected and processed so that action can be taken immediately,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The setting-up of the Special Operations Room here is part of a nationwide effort launched by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun last Saturday to crack down on illegal gambling activities.

The effort sees operations rooms being set up in each state as well as the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
