BINTULU: Police nabbed seven Indonesians and seized drugs worth RM4,500 during a raid here on Sunday.

Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) chief Supt Sahar Abdul Latif said the foreigners, comprising six males and one female aged between 20 and 32 years, were detained around 1.30pm in a house at Jalan Abang Galau.

“During the raid, we recovered three straw tubes containing substance believed to be Syabu in the pocket of one of the suspects.

“Further inspection found one transparent plastic packet on the floor as well as 46 straws containing suspected Syabu,” he said in a statement yesterday, adding the total weight of the drugs was approximately 34.07 grammes.

He disclosed that all of the suspects are being held at Bintulu Central Police Station, and that four of the men and the woman tested positive for drugs.

None of the suspects have prior criminal records, and are believed to have acquired the drugs from local distributors, he added.

Police have classified the investigation under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act.

In an unrelated case, 25 men including an Indonesian and a Filipino were detained for suspected drug abuse during a raid at an unnumbered house along Jalan Bintulu-Miri.

The raid took place last Saturday following a tip-off, with 18 of the men subsequently testing positive for drugs.

The suspects, aged between 16 and 43, are being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
