SIBU: A 27-year-old lorry driver was yesterday sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court here to four years in jail for dangerous driving which caused the death of a married couple four years ago.
Magistrate Sofia S. Sawayan handed down the sentence on Wong Hock Peng, of Bukit Lima Timur Road, and fined him RM3,500.
Wong was also disqualified from driving for a period of three years.
He was charged with causing the deaths of Yong Kui Tiong and wife Kong Lan Lan when his lorry collided with the couple’s motorcycle at 7.40am on July 2, 2014.
Yong was the rider while Kong, the pillion.
Wong is expected to file an appeal to the High Court.
