BANJARMASIN, S Kalimantan: Banjarmasin City Government will immediately handle the slums of Kampung Murung Selong, Sungai Lulut Urban Village, East Banjarmasin, even though it was not included in the City without Slum program (Kotaku), AntaranewsKalsel reported.
Especially, said the Head of the Banjarmasin City Housing and Settlement Agency A Fanani Syaifuddin, revamping the wooden bridge accessing the area.
“We have conducted a review there, indeed it is a slum area, but unfortunately it is not included in the slum area decree in the City without Slum program (Kotaku),” he said in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.
Thus, he explained, the tidy up of the area will not be funded either by local (APBD) or state budget (APBN) and the municipal administration is now figuring it out.
“The plan to be immediately carried out is to repair the wooden bridge access to residential areas, because indeed the conditions are very alarming. We use CSR funds,” Fanani told.
He revealed that the Forum Bulog is willing to assist the city government to channel its CSR funds for the repair of wooden bridges of access to residential neighborhoods in the area.
“But the CSR funds are only temporary relief, and even then it carried out in a labor-intensive manner. This is also supported by the Community Self-Relief Agency (BKM) to do it,” Fanani remarked.
But going forward, he said, the city government will budget the development of the area so that the problem of slums can be overcome. Not only improvements in infrastructure access roads, but also others, including cleanliness and settlements of the population to be habitable.
He thought, the Murung Selong had actually entered data collection as a slum area in 2015, but somehow the neighborhood unit (RT) 12 and 13 were not included in the decree (SK) of this city slum area.
“The possibility is that lately RTs in the area have expansion, so the data is lost, even though in the area near the two RTs are in Kotaku program,” he said.
Fanani remarked that Banjarmasin continued to handle slums in the Kotaku program since 2015. Previously, the total slum area was 549 hectares, currently the remaining 380 hectares.
