KUCHING: Sarawakians here can look forward to paying for their groceries cashless via their phones.

Malaysia’s leading mobile wallet app ‘Boost’ is partnering with Boulevard Hypermarket Kuching in this endeavour, which also marks the latter as the first hypermarket in Sarawak to adopt the e-wallet payment option for shoppers.

Boost, which was officially launched in January last year, has registered over 2.8 million registered customers across Malaysia and about 30,000 touch points across the country including Boulevard Hypermarket, SCR, Tealive, Nandos, Kenny Rogers and MBO.

According to Boost chief executive officer Christopher Tiffin, the e-wallet app signifies the changes in the way the Malaysian consumers transact on day-to-day basis, as well as the means of making transactions more convenient and more secure and at the same time, making it fun and rewarding.

“The app will complement the shoppers’ lifestyles. With a simple QR code scan over their phones, they get to earn cashback and rewards,” he said when met after the local launch of Boost on the ground floor of Boulevard Hypermarket here yesterday.

It is learnt that every scan-and-pay transaction at Boulevard Hypermarket here would earn Boost app users cashback through ‘Boost’s Shake Rewards’.

Boost is available for download via Play Store for Android devices, and App Store for iOS devices. For more information, go to www.myboost.come.my, or follow Boost on Facebook (www.facebook.come/myboostapp) and Instagram (www.instagram.come/myboostapp).

Boulevard Hypermarket managing director Dennis Lee Sing On, Boulevard group chief executive officer Don Yew Hoon and Boost director of merchants Eric Chong were also present at the launch yesterday.

The Boulevard Group currently operates a hypermarket in Kuching and three in Miri, with another one coming up in Bintulu.
