KOTA KINABALU: Five women, including three Chinese nationality, were detained by police for prostitution activity.

City police chief ACP Habibi Majanji said the suspects were detained by police during a raid under Ops Noda at a premise at Inanam Business Centre in Inanam around 10pm on August 8.

“The raid was made following tip-off and surveillance at the premise for couple of days.

“Police detained two local women who were believed to be the caretaker of the premise, aged 25 and 68, and three women from China, in their 30s and early 40s,” he said.

Those detained were taken to the police headquarters in Karamunsing for further investigation where the case would be investigated under Section 373/372B of the Penal Code.

Habibi therefore thanks the public for providing information to the police and look forward for further cooperation with the public in combating unhealthy and criminal activity in and around their areas.
