Former convict fined RM4,000 for threatening wife

MIRI: The Magistrates’ Court here yesterday fined a former convict RM4,000 in default three months’ jail for threatening his wife.

Alisetin Lumpong, 35, from Pujut 2C was convicted under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

The Section provides for up to seven years in jail, or a fine, or both.

Alisetin was found guilty of criminally intimidating his wife Crancy Ramba, 34, by threatening to kill her.

He committed the offence at 12.30pm on Aug 7 at a shop in Saberkas Commercial Centre.

Alisetin pleaded for leniency, saying he has to drive his only child, aged 13, to school.

Insp Mohd Khairi Mohd Noor prosecuted the case in front of Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa.

In an unrelated case, a man was sentenced to seven months’ jail for possession of stolen goods.

Bengkong Jilap pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code.

Based on facts of the case, Bengkong kept a stolen motorcycle engine belonging to Yam Soon Kwang at 1am on May 10, 2016 at the compound of a house in Tudan Desaras, Phase 6.

Prosecuting officer ASP Mary Ong said the case had been set for trial but Bengkong changed his plea to guilty.

The court ordered for the sentence to run from the date of his remand on May 21.
