MIRI: The Public Works Department (JKR) has installed warning signs and rumble strips at an accident-prone area in Vista Perdana.

A resident said there have been at least three fatalities along the stretch over the last five years.

“We hope motorists plying this particular stretch of road will be more alert and abide by the road regulations, as these facilities will be useless if drivers do no follow the rules,” said a resident.

“Precautionary measures should be taken by all motorists to ensure that there are no more road fatalities there, and some motorists must change their driving attitude to make our roads safer.”

He said the busy road connects Permyjaya and Senadin to the city centre as well as Miri Airport.

“We hope this effort can remind all motorists to be extra careful when plying this road.

“Road users should also slow down their vehicles and be considerate by slowing down and giving way to vehicles coming out to the main road from Vista Perdana or Desa Bahagia junctions,” he added.

Last month, the Vista Perdana Residents Committee met with JKR and the authorities agreed to install the warning sign and rumble strips to get vehicles to slow down in the area.
