Moon versus Wind in Race Four

Bukan Lawan Nya deserves another chance.

KUCHING: Shoot for the moon but if you miss, there is a good chance you can still chase the wind to the pay-out window.

The stage is set for an interesting duel between two strong fancies – My Moon and Wind Chaser – who will face off in Race Four (Class II – 1000M) at the Penrissen course here this morning.

My Moon scored an easy debut victory in Class III last meeting and has copped a promotion to Class II.

The three-year-old filly, with a swift turn of hooves, was rested on the first week to keep her fresh for the race today.

Shaping up nicely on the track and with a drop of 8kg, a good No. 2 marble and Othman Putit astride, the Beraya Stable’s racer should start as the hot favourite, bidding for a second win in as many starts. She is the one to beat.

Wind Chaser faces the starter on even terms with My Moon at 58kg.

The eight-year-old came with a late run to finish two lengths behind the winner Rambo last week. With the benefit of that run, and to be partnered by leading jockey Roslan Bujang and drawn next to the rails, the W Stable’s rangy galloper can challenge for honours by moving up a notch.

Another one to watch is King De Lago who finished a long third to Rambo last week.

Carrying two 2kg less and starting in a safe No. 5 stall, the six-year-old can strike up a winning combination with jockey Jasmi Kamar. Mark him down as good each-way bet.

Volcano (Maruf Wahab) should erupt in Race Three (Class III – 1000M) to dodge a third successive bridesmaid’s role.

The three-year-old who finished second to Geronimo last week and was also runner-up in an outing previous to that, can end the sequence of second best by greeting the judges. Only weight (69kg) will stop him.

The challenge should come from Peace Pipe (Roslan Bujang) and Sofia’s Pet (Hamid Elli).

Give Bukan Lawan Nya (Jasmi Kamar) another chance in Race Five (Class 1 – 1000M).

The eight-year-old was a beaten favourite last week, finishing a long second to Suaji, but should be a different proposition today.

With Jasmi Kamar up, a drop of 1kg and a good No. 2 marble, the Beraya Stable’s roan galloper looks set to make amends.

Taking note of jockeyship, Suaji who streaked to a record-breaking win last week, has a bigger task today with an apprentice on board.

Amirzull Othman who takes up the reins on the four-year-old will have to do a “Moreira” to make a real difference.

Rambo (Othman Putit), promoted to Class 1 after a good win in Class II last week, bears watching.

Weighing out with a handy 52kg and an inside marble, the five-year-old can defy promotion to score in top company.
