KUCHING: Bidayuh entrepreneur Awaeang Kwasin is grateful for the support from her community as she embarks on a quest to promote and export her Sarawak pepper and pepper-based products overseas.

According to her, the support from the Bidayuh community is important to her because she intends to make her people proud by becoming a successful entrepreneur.

“My products display and promote the quality of Sarawak pepper.

“Through my products, anyone who uses them will recognise why Sarawak pepper is among the best grade of pepper there is around,” she said during the launching ceremony of her products at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) headquarters here on Saturday.

Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin, who was the guest of honour, said he is proud of Awaeang’s achievement and hopes others will follow in her footsteps.

“Congratulations to Awaeang for the launch of her product. I hope more Bidayuhs will come up with products that can also be sold overseas such as the ones by Awaeang,” he said during the ceremony.

Awaeang, meanwhile, said she was also grateful for the opportunity given by major supermarkets across the country in carrying her products – sold under the Nang Ori brand – as it will help the brand grow and aid her in her quest.

Also present during the ceremony were Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin, DBNA president Datu Ik Pahon Joyik.
