MIRI: Police arrested nine persons and seized various electronic devices during a raid on a premises serving as a processing centre for online gambling.

Sarawak CID chief SAC Denis Leong said the raid was executed around 11.45pm on Saturday at a shoplot in Marina Square by Miri CID personnel following information received.

“The team arrested a manager and eight of his workers, aged in their 20s and 30s, and also seized 18 computers, servers and various electronic devices,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said no cash was found at the premises as its function was to process bets for online gambling activities.

Police will be applying for a remand order against all the suspects for further investigation under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, Leong added.
