KUCHING: Three men were arrested for alleged drug trafficking after they were found with RM13,000 worth of Syabu on Saturday.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the trio was nabbed by personnel from the Padawan narcotics crime investigation division during an operation at Mile 12 Jalan Matang.

“The suspects, aged 23, 26 and 28, were inside a car parked at a house when police nabbed them around 8pm.

“Approximately 107 grammes of crystalline substance, believed to be Syabu, was found inside the vehicle, while all three also tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said yesterday.

Apart from the drugs, police also seized the suspects’ car, local and foreign currencies, jewellery, wristwatches, mobile phones and bank cards.

“Our initial investigation revealed the suspects purchased the drugs by banking-in money to a certain account.

“Of the three suspects, one possesses a prior record for a drug-related offence,” said Aidil, adding all three suspects admitted to being drug abusers for the past three years.

Police have classified the case under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
