KOTA KINABALU: A man has been sentenced to 18 years’ jail and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here yesterday for committing sodomy on his little daughter.
Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohammed imposed the sentence on the 46-year-old accused after he pleaded guilty as charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which is punishable with imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
The accused admitted to committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature on his eight-year-old child at a house here on February 13.
The prosecution told the court that during the incident, the teenage daughter witnessed their father carrying out the heinous act on her younger sister and when the other brother asked the victim what had happened, she said “bapa ada buat sama aku” (father did this to me).
A police report was subsequently lodged which led to the arrest of the father on February 14.
The victim was brought to the hospital for an examination and a doctor, who conducted the examination, confirmed that there was a fresh tear on the victim’s anal passage.
