2 Nepalese men jailed for bribing policeman

IPOH: Two Nepalese nationals were sentenced to a month jail and fined RM10,000 each by the Sessions Court here yesterday after they pleaded guilty to bribing a policeman.

Judge S Indra Nehru meted out the sentence on Das Kanhaiya Lal, 40, and Chaudhary Satya Narayan, 30, effective last July 24.

The two men, both security guards, paid the fine.

They were jointly charged with offering bribe of RM150 to Lance Corporal Mohd Fitri Lasim as an inducement to not take action against Chaudhary who was riding a motorcycle without a valid B2 licence.

The offence was committed at an intersection between ​​​​​​​Jalan Dato On Jaafar and Jalan Sultan Idris Shah here at about 4.55pm last July 9.

Prosecuting officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission R Kumuthambal prosecuted, while lawyer Ranjit Singh Sandhu represented the two Nepalese men. — Bernama
