MIRI: St Dominic and Rosary Church Taman Tunku here recently held a farewell gathering for its outgoing parish priest Rev Fr Guido Gockel who is going on transfer to take up a new appointment in Rome.
The gathering, held at a leading hotel here, was attended by committee members of the parish and family members.
Event coordinator Anne Sabut thanked Rev Fr Guido for his services over the past five years at the church in assisting the faithful to lead a life centred around God.
“Rev Fr Guido has been very loving and concerned for the faithful. He loves to give hugs.
“He is also very open-minded and straightforward. If he does not like something, he will tell but he is always willing to listen to reason. For that we are grateful and say thank you to him,” she said.
Anne added they are looking forward to work closely with his successor Rev Fr Kevin Chundi.
