KUCHING: A Chinese school board leader here hopes that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government will fulfill its election promise to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC).

Chairman of Board of Management for Kuching Chung Hua Primary Schools
(CHPS) No.1 to 6 Wong Tiong Hook said recognising UEC is the best approach for the government of the day to show the people that they support Chinese education.

He noted that recognising UEC was one of the election promises that PH made to Malaysians prior to the May 9 general election.

As such, it is only natural and responsible for the new government to keep its promise by granting recognition to UEC, he added.

He made these remarks during a farewell ceremony for the headmistress of CHPS No.1 Choo Chin Moi, who will be transferred to CHPS No.3 at Jalan Padungan here.

Wong lauded Choo for being a capable leader who implemented several projects for the school since she was appointed as the headmistress in 2015.

He believed that Choo would continue to play an effective role in her new appointment.
