KUCHING: The delegates representing Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) had a meeting with the officials from Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australian yesterday, to talk about the adoption of digital technology for use in advancing development planning in Sarawak.
In the meeting with Queensland University representatives, Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan thanked the university for providing such an opportunity.
According to him, Sarawak has vast land areas and soil information is very essential, especially in formulating land use policy in Sarawak.
Meanwhile Awang Tengah – also Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Minister, and Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources – expressed his hope for LCDA and Sarawak Forest Department to work out certain mechanisms meant to establish collaborations with their Australian counterparts in these areas of development.
Awang Tengah’s delegation included Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh, the Urban Development and Natural Resources Ministry permanent secretary Dr Wan Liz Ozman Wan Omar and its planning division Head Wan Sufian Wan Mustapha, LCDA general manager Datu Sajeli Kipli, and Land and Survey Department director Zaidi Mahdi.
