Teacher pleads not guilty to possession of terrorism-related items

KUALA LUMPUR: A teacher of a primary school in Sarawak pleaded not guilty in the High Court here yesterday on a charge with possession of six images and 16 videos on the Daesh terrorist group in his handphone.

Muhamad Naseefullah@ Heawian Einie, 47, made the plea before judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.

The Islamic Education teacher was alleged to have committed the offence at the klia2 police station, level 2, Arrival Hall of the Kuala Lumpur 2 International Airport in Sepang here, at 3.22pm on Dec 1, 2017.

He was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code and faced an imprisonment for up to seven years, or fine, and shall also be liable to forfeiture of the items concerned, if found guilty.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Izhanudin Alias, while Muhamad Naseefullah@ Heawian was represented by lawyer Zaini Bakar.

The court set Sept 25 for mention. — Bernama
