KUCHING: Perth Glory FC players and officials, accompanied by some Sarawak players, paid their second visit since 2017 to the Paediatric Unit of the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) as part of their Community Support Programme – ‘Games to Aid Recovery’ – yesterday.

Led by club advisor Tony Hughes and Janis Hughes they gave out their stuffed kangaroo mascot “Gloria’ to over 20 children.

The programme provides games and toys to sick children of all ages.

“We are delighted to be with FAS (Football Association of Sarawak) Service Programme in SGH … this is a small token of appreciation, a mascot, Gloria. We have been in Sarawak for six days now, playing games. And we are very proud to be accepted into your organisation and hospital,” Hughes said.

The club players are on their pre-season playing tour. Last Saturday, they beat the Sarawak squad at the Sarawak Stadium.

Upon arrival at the hospital yesterday, the delegation was welcomed by SGH staff members led by Matron Merrylyn Apok and public relations officer Maria Belare.

Among FAS officials present were secretary general Jefri Lana and PR media consultant Sahrein Maloh.
