KOTA KINABALU: The University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) will be organising the UCSF Turtle Run 2018 on October 6, in conjunction with its annual Green Carnival.

The aim of the run is to raise awareness on the importance of turtle conservation, a practice that the ‘Green University’ is advocating.

“The run is divided into two categories, 3km and 7km. It is open to all members of the public, from as young three years old,” program coordinator Sherylyn S told The Borneo Post.

The runners will start running from UCSF all the way to Tanjung Aru and back.

Sherylyn said that all registered runners will be entitled to an exclusive t-shirt, finisher medal as well as an e-certificate.

“A turtle sculpture created by USCF’s very own artists will also be displayed on the day, as a symbolic theme of the USCF Green Carnival,” she added.

The registration fee for UCSF members and participants between three to 17-years-old for is RM55 while non-members will be charged RM70.

It is understood that USCF had invited Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Christina Liew to officiate the event.

After the run, fun activities are available for the runners and the public at the university’s activity booth.
