KUCHING: Mydin is targeting to collect 500,000 pledges nationwide for its MyPledge campaign, which runs until Malaysia Day, to enter The Malaysia Book of Records.

The campaign was launched simultaneously at all 63 Mydin outlets nationwide at 11am yesterday.

Mydin Sarawak area mall manager Sutaghani Ahmad Zaidoll and Mydin Petra Jaya branch manager Rethnasamy Naidu Krishnan were the first to put up their pledges during the official launch at Mydin Petra Jaya.

MyPledge is one of the activities under Mydin’s ‘Raikan MalaysiaKu 2018’ programme, which seeks to get Malaysians to show their commitment and love for the country.

The first Mydin outlet was established in 1957, when Malaya achieved its independence.

To mark this special occasion, Mydin is holding its MyMerdeka programme at five outlets until Sept 16.

The first programme was held at Mydin Bukit Mertajam, Penang (Aug 3-5); followed by Mydin USJ, Subang Jaya, Selangor from yesterday until Sunday (Aug 16-19); Mydin Meru Raya, Ipoh, Perak from Aug 30 to Sept 1; and Mydin Mutiara Rini, Skudai, Johor from Sept 6-8.

Mydin Petra Jaya will be the fifth and last location to hold MyMerdeka from Sept 14-16, and will host the closing ceremony on Malaysia Day.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the closing ceremony, which will see activities such as Gardenia Challenge, Teh Tarik Challenge, and a mini concert.

MyPledge cards are available from the information counter or customer service counter of all Mydin outlets.

E-pledges can also be made by scanning the QR code available via @mydinmalaysia on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, or www.mydin.com.my.

The e-pledges will be written on MyPledge cards and displayed on the pledge board at all Mydin outlets.

The ‘Shop, Collect & Redeem 2018’ campaign is also being held in conjunction with the ‘Raikan MalaysiaKu’ programme, where customers will be given one stamp for every RM30 purchase.

Customers will get an extra stamp when they purchase Nestle, P&G, Unilever, F&N, Kopiko, Mamee, or Anlene products.

Upon collecting five stamps, they can redeem food containers from Maitre Chef and Bakeware at 70 per cent discount.

The ‘Shop, Collect & Redeem’ will run until Nov 30, while redemptions at discounted prices will begin on Sept 1.

There is also the ‘Shop, Fly & Drive 2018’, which entitles customers to win prizes with minimum purchases of RM150 in two combined receipts from any Mydin outlet or any of Mydin tenant.
