KAPIT: A briefing on ‘Mewujudkan Pangkalan Data Digital’ for community leaders in Kapit Division was held at the District Office here yesterday.

The one-day briefing was organised by the Kapit Resident’s Office in collaboration with the Kapit District Office.

On hand to conduct the briefing were Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang and Kapit district officer Elvis Didit.

Galong spoke on digital data covering government buildings and services, longhouses, kampongs, residential areas, learning institutes, health clinics, tourist attractions and others.

“All data keyed in will be available on ‘Google Earth’ which is free to access through the computer, hand phone and other online gadgets. This digital information provides planners with vital information and reference when planning development and performing economic analysis. This is in line with the state government’s initiative to implement Digital Economy,” he said.

He added that the online data can provide information on Kapit Division and the districts under it; namely Kapit, Song, Belaga and Bukit Mabong as well as its two sub-districts of Sungai Asap and Nanga Merit. Besides that it also provides information on electoral boundaries, he said.

Galong informed that the briefing was more on the concept and how to key in information online and the convenience of Google Earth whereby viewers do not need to go to the locality for information.

He said after Kapit, the briefing will held in Belaga and Song districts tentatively on Sept 4 and Sept 19 respectively. Earlier it was held at Bukit Mabong.

Galong hopes that all data in the division can be uploaded to Google Earth by the end of the year.
