KUCHING: It is imperative for the federal government to come up with a clear response to the restoration of Sarawak’s rights as stated in their election manifesto.

Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said so far, the Sarawak government has received mixed response from the prime minister and his cabinet ministers regarding the state’s rights.

“We (Sarawak) want to hear a clear response, if they (federal government) cannot fulfil the state’s demands, we want to know what are their plans,” said Fazzrudin

when met after a programme at the Housing Development Corporation headquarters yesterday.

He said by getting a clear response, the Sarawak government would then be able to properly plan development in tandem with the federal government’s plans.

“It is important for the state government to work with the federal government in terms of development,” said Fazzrudin adding that political differences should be set aside when it comes to the people’s welfare.

Touching on the manifesto, Fazzrudin said as part of the nation’s youth, he would like to see all the manifesto promises delivered – especially those that can bring a positive impact to society.

By returning the state’s rights on oil and gas that was unanimously agreed at the State Legislative Assembly, it would enable the Sarawak government to have a strong income base.

“It is important to ensure that Sarawak’s income can be improved for the state government to carry out development programmes especially involving the youths,” said Fazzrudin who is also PBB deputy Youth chief.
