MIRI: Curtin Malaysia Carnival 2018 on Aug 25 at its campus here promises a unique and exciting day including a ‘Mini Kite Festival’, musical performances by Borneo’s only Ceilidh band, and live broadcast over Hitz.fm Sarawak by deejay Natasha Juan.

The carnival will feature ‘Future Students Hub’ for potential students to get information on courses, enrolment requirement, scholarships and study loans while ‘Faculty Showcases’ by Curtin Malaysia’s three faculties
and graduate school will promote studies in various engineering, science, technology, business and humanities disciplines.

A ‘STEM Exhibition’, ‘Community Corner’ highlighting local community causes, as well as food and beverage stalls, food trucks and campus tours for visiting students will be some of the attractions.

The Mini Kite Festival is a collaboration with Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) – the organiser for award-winning annual 14th Borneo International Kite Festival (BIKF) to be held in Bintulu on Sept 26 to 30 this year.

The festival will give visitors a taste of BIKF with large inflatable kites of all shapes, sizes and colours taking to the skies at Curtin Malaysia’s campus from 10.45 am, flown by an experienced team from Bintulu.

Casual Ceilidh Band from Brunei with members from around the world will liven the atmosphere with traditional and contemporary Scottish, Irish and country music and songs at the campus garden at 11am and 2pm.

Popular Hitz.fm deejay Natasha Juan will be at Astro Radio’s booth from 11am to 3pm to update listeners on the carnival, games and question-and-answer sessions. Visitors are invited to meet Natasha and get the chance to win Astro and Curtin merchandise.

Curtin Malaysia Carnival 2018 will be open from 10am to 5pm for the public to see life in the largest Australian international campus in the world and Curtin University’s largest international campus and global hub in Asia.

Supported by the Miri City Council for the ninth year and other corporate sponsors, the annual carnival attracts thousands with 500 secondary school students from Miri, Brunei and Sabah expected this year.
