Twelve finalists to vie for Miss Tagang Semadang crown

KUCHING: Twelve beauties have qualified for the final of Miss Tagang Semadang International beauty pageant, which will take place on Sept 1 in conjunction with the 4th Semadang International Tagang Festival 2018.

They were selected from among the 18 participants at the qualifying round held at a hotel here yesterday.

The 12 finalists are Alicia Ester, Chris Hazel, Conalia John, Dorothy Ann, Ellyana Murat, Fellicia Pamella, Jelianicca Lorettanisha, Natasha Sunau, Nurhafeeza Abdul Elias, Racheal Emmila, Wilsey Barnabas and Winona Nathasa.

According to the competition’s coordinator Alvine Ngu Fung Ling, the Miss Tagang Semadang 2018 contest offers a cash prize of RM1,300 for the champion, while second and third place winners will each receive a cash prize of RM800 and RM500 respectively.

In addition, the three top winners will also receive pewter trophies and other supplementary prizes while the other nine finalists will receive consolation prizes worth RM200 each.

The 4th Semadang International Tagang Festival will be held from Aug 31 to Sept 2 at Kampung Semadang, KM 40, Borneo Heights Road, Kuching.

Meanwhile, festival director Robert Kenneth said the 4th Semadang International Festival will be celebrated with a variety of exciting activities, beginning with traditional dances and musical instruments competition at Kampung Semadang multi-purpose hall on Aug 31 at 7.30pm.

A fishing competition expected to be participated by more than 200 anglers will take place on the morning of Sept 1 while the beauty pageant final will begin at 7.30pm on the same day.

Other events include a cooking competition by Maggi and UCSI University which will
start at 10am on Sept 1, darts competition and various games activities.

On Sunday (Sept 2) there will be water sports activities, colouring contest for children and karaoke competition open to the public.

There will also be sales of food and beverages as well as exhibitions during the three-day festival.
