KUCHING: Following the state government’s decision to reduce land premium for all resettlement and village extension schemes in the state by 50 per cent, a total of 7,174 land titles would be affected with refund payment amounting to RM43,447,264.
This was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who pointed out that the refund is payable only to lots belonging to the original land owner; lots transferred to beneficiaries/holder of Letter of Administration; and lots transferred by way of love and affection among immediate family members.
“The refund of excess land premium shall not apply to lots transferred by sales and purchase,” he told a press conference at his office at the new State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here today.
For refund, he said land owners are required to fill and submit their application to the Land and Survey Department no later than October 31, 2019.
He stressed that the state government is committed to ensuring that the reduction is duly implemented for the benefits of low-income groups in Sarawak.
“The decision to reduce the premium by half is to assist the rakyat to mitigate the rising cost of living.”
Also present at the press conference were Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh and Land and Survey Department director Zaidi Mahdi.
