Army personnel in 7-day remand for alleged child sodomy

MIRI : An army personnel arrested on the suspicion of sodomising his 10-year-old adopted son was ordered by the Magistrate Court to be remanded for seven days to facilitate police investigation.

The order was issued by Magistrate Zuraini Ali Musa after allowing a remand application by investigating officer Insp Noor Rahimah.

In her application, the 34-year-old suspect was arrested on Sept 6 at the compound of Miri Central Police Station.

The arrest was made following a police report made by the suspect’s ex-wife.

In her report, the complainant claimed that their adopted son told her that he had been sodomised by his adopted father (the suspect).

The boy also said his back is sore from being beaten by the suspect.

The court allowed a seven-day remand on the suspect according to Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which will end on September 14.
