The success of the PGM Tour and its continued growth is highly dependant on sponsorship and this is the seventh consecutive year that MNRB has stepped into this role.

Ahmad Sarji thanked MNRB profusely for its continued support.

“MNRB is contributing towards a tournament that is an Asian Development Tour co-sanctioned event that provides world ranking points to the Top-6 and ties,” he said at the ceremony.

“ADT tournaments are important to us because it enables Malaysian professionals to earn points to enter the Official World Golf Rankings list.

“As most of the ADT tournaments are held in Malaysia, our players will benefit from ‘home advantage’ and from the expenses of travelling to participate in ADT tournaments,” he explained.

“With the help of world ranking points, Malaysia now has a reasonable chance of sending the full quota of golf professionals to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

“MNRB is investing for all the right reasons, their investment in the PGM will help us meet the Olympic objective,” Ahmad Sarji added.

Since the formation of ADT, Malaysian now has more than 15 players with world ranking points.

In the past, other than squash and badminton, no other individual sport provides world ranking points for Malaysian athletes.

“We are proud of the achievements made by PGM today.

“Seeing our Malaysian golfers earning world ranking points in the Official World Golf Rankings shows that PGM’s efforts have
been worthwhile and their continuous effort in promoting and sustaining the development of the sport of golf is showing commendable results,” Mohd Din said.

The PGM MNRB Championship is the 15th leg on the 2018 schedule and offers world ranking points to the top six contenders and ties as it is co-sanctioned with the Asian Development Tour.
