Biggest recovery of stolen goods in Limbang

LIMBANG: The arrest of a civil servant, his brother and eight others led to the biggest recovery of stolen goods from several housebreaking and theft cases in the district last March.

Limbang District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 31-year-old suspect and his brother, 32, and eight more individuals aged between 23 to 41 were detained at separate locations at 3.10pm and 10.35pm on Thursday.

He said with the arrest of all ten suspects, police recovered suspected stolen items that they hid in a house at Kampung Limpaku Pinang.

“The police believed that the stolen items were traded for drugs and for sale before they were hidden in the house.

“This is the success of our personnel in solving several housebreaking and theft cases in the district with three to four months of intelligence and public information,” he said at a press conference at the Limbang District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.

Mohd Bukhori said all the stolen items consisted of metal equipment, boats and engines worth more than RM60,000 were seized and thus solving several theft cases here.

He said initial tests showed that all of the suspects were positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine while some of them had past records of theft and drug-related offences.

All of them are being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Mohd Bukhori also urged members of the public who had items stolen before to come to the Limbang IPD to identify their goods.
