Abang Johari vows to continue fighting for Sarawak’s rights despite threat on his life

SIBU: Despite intimidation from certain quarters, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says he will continue to defend the rights of Sarawakians.
He said this with reference to a statement associated with threat written by a Facebook user on Friday, which threatened to kill him.
“Yesterday, in the FB, there was a person wanting to kill me…he said, kill the chief minister then we will be peaceful. It seems like I am the one who create chaos in Sarawak.
“God willing, I will continue to defend the people of Sarawak though there is a threat against me. Because our life is determined by Allah… before death angel takes my life, I together with my colleagues, will continue to fight for Sarawak,” he said when declaring open Pesta Belawai 2018 at Belawai Beach Garden, and the planting of reef balls in Belawai-Paloh waters near Kampung Belawai, yesterday.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh, Assistant Minister of Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol and Tanjung Manis MP Yusof Abd Wahab were also present.
Abang Johari added that Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) would always strive to develop the rural areas because the strength of PBB was in rural areas.
He added from past record, those who could develop Sarawak are the people of Sarawak themselves, and not those from outside Sarawak.
“In other words, if we want to develop Sarawak, only leaders born and raised in Sarawak will be able to assist the people.
“I know, our problem here (Belawai) is water supply. For this reason, we, the government cannot wait for the people in Malaya (federal government). We will carry out a complete development of our water supply with an allocation of RM2.8 billion for the rural people.
“Want it or not, we have to use our own fund. Because of that, within two years’ time, we want to expedite the development of water supply, and I request Awang Tengah to assist Dr Rundi (Minister of Public Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi), in this area,” he said.
