KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg deserves the support of all Sarawakians to defend Sarawak’s rights.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing, who said this, hopes Sarawakians will stand as one irrespective of political inclinations behind the Chief Minister’s efforts.

“As president of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), I give my full support to Chief Minister’s stance in defending Sarawak’s rights. All YBs (elected representatives) from Sarawak, whether they are from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), PKR or DAP, should give their full support in defending Sarawak’s rights, otherwise they will be treated as traitors to Sarawak’s interests.

“In the last 55 years, we had been sidelined, bullied and disregarded. Let’s forget our past mistakes and stand as one. We have years ahead to make amends to what our forefathers had mistakenly done,” he said yesterday.

Abang Johari, when declaring open Pesta Belawai 2018 on Saturday, vowed to continue to defend the rights of Sarawakians despite intimidation from certain quarters. He was reacting to a post by a Facebook user on Friday, threatening to kill him.

“God willing, I will continue to defend the people of Sarawak though there is a threat against me. Because our life is determined by Allah…before death angel takes my life, I together with my colleagues will continue to fight for Sarawak,” he was quoted as saying.
