JOHOR BAHRU: The 32-year-old Malaysian who was left stranded in Hokkaido, Japan which was struck by Typhoon Jebi and a powerful earthquake last week, safely arrived home yesterday morning.
Nordziakon Husnan or fondly known as Rudy arrived at the Senai International Airport here at 8am and was greeted by his wife Aainaa Mardhiah Juraisan, 30, and their six-year-old daughter Nursyahzani Nazita Aailah.
Efforts to bring home Rudy, a technician who is also pursuing his Masters in Information Technology at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was carried out by the Johor Umno Liaison Body which had also fully funded the flight tickets.
Rudy, who went on a solo trip to Japan on Sept 1 and was scheduled to return home last Wednesday, was left stranded at the Chitose Airport due to technical problems after the northern island of Hokkaido was jolted by Typhoon Jebi and the earthquake last week.
Typhoon Jebi, the most powerful typhoon to make landfall in Japan in 25 years, hit several areas of the country on Sept 4, causing flights and rail services as well as some commercial facilities’ operations to be cancelled. — Bernama
