KOTA KINABALU: Two Indonesian fishermen are believed to have been kidnapped off Semporna waters early this morning.
It is believed that several men armed with M-16 machine gun boarded the fishing vessel and took the two crewmen around 1am.
Two other fishermen however managed to hide from the kidnappers in some compartment.
Once the kidnappers left, together with their colleagues and the boat radio, the lucky two crewmen immediately made their way to Semporna to lodged a police report.
Both the police and the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), when contacted, confirmed the incident.
This is be the first kidnapping incident in almost two years.
