PENAMPANG: Twelve people, including five children, were injured in a three-vehicle collision at Penampang-Tambunan Road, near Kampung Babagon near here yesterday.

State Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer,Superintendent Mohd Affendy Ramin said eight persons, including five children, were in a van, while five persons were in a car and one person was in another car.

“Two passengers, including a boy, in the van were pinned to their seats and it took about half an hour for fire and rescue personnel to free them.

“They were then rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital together with the other injured persons for treatment, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition,” he said yesterday.

Mohd Affendy said, a distress call was received at 1.31 pm and seven fire and rescue personnel were deployed to the scene, adding that the operation ended around 2.10 pm after all the injured persons have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
