SIBU: The project to build RM6.8 million fire station in Daro which was scheduled for completion by Sept 10 this year has apparently hit a snag, according to Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad, who said the project.

“With the delay in completion, we now expect works on the project to be completed sometime next year,” he disclosed when asked on the progress.

He mentioned site conditions as the factor behind the delay. The single-storey fire station building will incorporate staff quarters.

In a recent interview, Safiee had expressed the hope the project progress would be closely monitored as the nearest fire station is a two-and-a-half hours away located in Mukah.

“In the event of a fire, there would surely be nothing left to salvage by the time firemen arrive at the location,” he was quoted as saying then.
