MIRI: An elderly man from Rh Brauh, Sg Entulang in Bakong, Baram near here is reported missing yesterday (Thursday).
Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said two personnel from Lopeng Fire and Rescue station, led by senior fire officer Rorudi Umas, were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 7.30pm.
“Upon arrival, the team proceeded to take information from the victim’s family but the loss of the victim has not been reported to the police.
“A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched around their house and farm area, but the team had yet to locate the missing man,” he said.
It was learnt that the 88-year-old victim had left the house at about 1pm.
“The victim’s family began searching for the victim at 5pm after they have failed to locate the victim at home,” added Law.
The SAR operation was suspended at 9.45pm and will be continued this morning.
