MIRI: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Piasau came to the rescue of a poor family at Permyjaya yesterday, bringing the much needed help to Wong You Mei, 47,who suffered from stroke since last month.

Wong’s husband Sia Seng Kwang, a general worker had to stop work to take care of his wife and attend to the daily needs of their three school going children.

Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting led several SUPP members to visit the family after their plight was brought to the attention of the SUPP Welfare unit.

During the visit, Ting handed over donations in the form of adjustable bed and ripple mattress, wheelchair, walking frame, milk powder and pampers. SUPP will also provide Wong with milk and pampers on monthly basis.

Ting hoped that such help could alleviate the financial burden of the family and appealed to the public to support the family and others.

Public donations can be channelled to SUPP Piasau by contacting 085-423399.

Sia thanked SUPP Piasau led by Ting who is also SUPP secretary general for the valuable help, adding that he was lost for words and very touched by their visit.

He added that the daily tasks have become very challenging, as he had to care for his wife full time, with some help from their five children – three schooling and two others who works low income.
