Bowlers launch campaign with a silver and bronze

IPOH: Sarawak got off to an encouraging start in the 2018 Sukma tenpin bowling competition at Ampang Superbowl, Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall by capturing one silver and one bronze medals.

National youth kegler Gillian Lim Siew Giok posted a line of 198, 245, 248, 178, 198, 191 for a total of 1,258 pins to bag the silver in the women’s singles, averaging 209 pins a game.

Fellow Sarawakian Nur Hazirah Ramli finished in third place with 1,246 pins.

Sabah’s Nur Alyssa Junaidi grabbed the gold with 1,273 pins and other Sarawak bowlers making a top 10 finish were Nur Aina Kamalia Abdul Ayub (sixth) and Asya Dania Azree (seventh).

Nevern Netanel Marcellinus completed a Sabah clean sweep of the singles golds when he felled 1,289 pins to finish ahead of Muhammad Hasif Alihanfiah of Melaka (1,274) and Muhammad Naqib Che Omar of Selangor (1,265).

Sarawak’s Brandon Ting Lik How was the best finisher in 13th place, followed by Mohd Uzair Irsyad Noor Azrul and Christopher Tiong Lee Siong in 15th and 16th spots.

Meanwhile, Sarawak remained at sixth spot in the medal table yesterday with four gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.
