KOTA KINABALU: Kimanis Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Anifah Haji Aman welcomes the statement by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir that the Federal Government has agreed to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak in accordance to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 which is the basis of the establishment of this country 55 years ago.

“As a Sabahan and Member of Parliament for P. 176 Kimanis, I am very excited and ready to give full support as well as seek other members of parliament to support this proposal should it be tabled in Parliament as this is what we in Sabah and Sarawak have been fighting for,” said Anifah in a statement yesterday.

“I believe my other opposition colleagues from Sabah and Sarawak will be ready to support this proposal as long as it is indeed in accordance with the Malaysian Agreement 1963 for the prosperity and well-being of our people,” he continued.

On the payment of oil royalty, Anifah said the Federal Government should take the necessary steps to acknowledge the intent and spirit of MA63.

“Only after agreeing to it then we can further negotiate on the quantum of payment. This has to be done for the benefit of the people in Sabah and Sarawak. The Federal Government led by Pakatan Harapan today should immediately begin the move to implement MA63 without delay or excuses,” he said.
