MIRI: A father lodged a police report in Marudi on Sunday after his teenage son was allegedly assaulted by more than 10 students at his school in Ulu Baram.

The 49-year-old father stated the incident happened last Wednesday, but that his son only related what happened two days later.

When contacted, Marudi police chief DSP Gabriel Risut confirmed receiving the report, saying the incident happened around 11.30pm.

“The 15-year-old victim, who is a school prefect, was beaten by a group of students after he reported them to teachers for smoking in the school compound.

“Unhappy at the victim for reporting them, they punched and kicked him until he fainted. He was later rushed to a nearby clinic by his teacher,” said Gabriel.

The victim, he added, sustained bruises to his chest and back.
