PITAS: Three children sitting in the back of a pick-up truck were killed and four others were injured in an accident at Jalan Bangkau-bangkau here yesterday morning.
Kota Marudu district police chief Superintendent Mohd Izaan Abdullah said Loris Lorzen, seven, Lisrerealcka Hamadus and Sizon Januin, both aged nine, were trapped under the vehicle and died at the scene.
The injured are Larryko Laitin, 25, Nena Muijan, 22, Jazzy, five, and Aaron Gaman, nine. They are reported in stable condition.
Mohd Izaan said Larryko, his wife Nena and their five nieces and nephews were on the way to Terunggu beach from Kampung Pantai Kanibongan for a picnic, when the Isuzu D-Max went off the road and overturned around 9am.
Fire and rescue personnel were called to the scene to remove the bodies of the victims.
Passers-by also stopped to help the other injured victims who were brought to the Pitas hospital.
