Excavator operator killed as machine topples down slope

A police officer takes a closer look at the overturned excavator at the scene of the incident.

MIRI: An excavator operator died after his machine toppled to the ground while ascending a slope at Kampung Lusut in Taman Tunku yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified by police as 51-year-old Kedi Malang.

The incident is said to have happened around 9am when the excavator went out of control and fell to the bottom of the slope, ending up on its side.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, ande his body sent to Miri Hospital for a post-mortem.

Police have classified the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
