BINTULU: Kuantan Builders Association Lion and Dragon Dance Club has won the Naim Malaysia and Borneo High Pole Lion Dance Championship 2018.

Thanks to a stunning acrobatic performance, the club received RM10,000, a trophy, and medals at the competition, which attracted thousands of spectators to Naim Bintulu Paragon’s street mall – Naim Group of Companies’ flagship development in Bintulu – on Malaysia Day.

The high pole lion dance championship was also one of the highlights for the annual Bintulu Tang Lung Carnival 2018.

Naim was also the main sponsor of the carnival.

Naim regional general manager for Bintulu Abang Mahathir Mohamed said the championship added much excitement to the carnival as a whole.

“This is the first of such competition held in Sarawak. It was just electrifying to see teams from different parts of Malaysia executing fantastic and flawless performance on high poles.

“Naim is very proud to be part of this competition, but more importantly, we fully support the initiative to pass on this great tradition to our younger generation. We would like to thank the Federation of Registered Chinese Associations (Forca) Bintulu for bringing such an exciting event to Bintulu,” he said in a press release yesterday.
