KUCHING: Four local men were arrested for drug possession during a police raid on a hut located at a lane along Kuching-Serian Road yesterday.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the raid took place at 1.30pm following a public tip-off, with his men carrying out surveillance of the suspects’ activities prior to executing the bust.

He said the raiding team seized a translucent plastic packet from a table containing suspected Syabu which weighed approximately half a gramme.

“Upon further checks, the team found a sling bag containing a straw tube and seven translucent plastic packets, also believed to contain Syabu, which weighed about 5.75 grammes,” he said when contacted.

Aidil added the drugs are estimated to be worth RM900.

The suspects, aged between 40 and 58, were then brought to the Padawan police headquarters where they all tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

Additionally, Aidil disclosed all four possessed criminal records for drug offences.

Police are investigating the suspects under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession and drug consumption.
