KUALA LUMPUR: The application process to list an individual to the interpol notice depends on interpol’s protocol and it takes time as it has to go through a thorough process as stated by the international agency.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said this in a statement here yesterday, referring to the news in a mainstream news portal (Utusan Malaysia) titled ‘Jho Low, father not in interpol’s list’ which was aired on Tuesday.

He also explained that based on the same protocol, interpol would also determine whether the name listed would be shown for public consumption or just the relevant authorities.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) does not want any confusion that could lead to a misperception on action taken by the authorities on Low Taek Jho and his father,”he said.

On Aug 24, the Putrajaya Sessions Court had issued a warrant of arrest on the controversial millionaire and his father Tan Sri Low Hock Peng to assist in the investigation on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal. — Bernama
