BINTULU: A motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by a lorry while attempting to ride across the road to the opposite lane on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified by police as Haryadi Zaini, 40, of Kampung Pandan, near here.
Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department district head Inspector Jeffery Jembol said the incident happened along the Bintulu-Miri coastal road around 10.30pm.
He said initial investigation indicated the victim was attempting to get to the other side of the road when he fell from his motorcycle and was struck by an oncoming lorry.
“The victim suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene. The lorry driver was unhurt in the collision,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
