BINTULU: Police are tracking down a man who is believed to have robbed and injured his mother at their house in Tanjung Kidurong here.

District police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the 61-year-old woman sustained injuries to her face and body during the incident which occurred early Wednesday morning.

He said preliminary investigation found no signs of a break-in at the house, and that only mother and son were at home at the time.

“The victim was sleeping in the living room when she woke up to see a man with his face covered approaching her.

“The man was armed with a sharp weapon and the mother was injured in the ensuing struggle, following which the man fled with her handbag which contained RM500 and some personal documents,” he told reporters yesterday.
