SANDAKAN: Sabah Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has been well-received in the state following the increase in number of people applying to join the party.

According to Its chairman Haris Alimudin, there are 200 branches in Sabah and current membership stands at 10,000 as compared to five branches and just 1,000 members when the party was first established.

Initially he said, Amanah was only seen as a small party in the state but now under the Parti Warisan Sabah-led state government, Amanah would surely want to play an important role in Warisan’s struggle for the people.

“This is because Amanah is also championing similar causes including Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he said at Sandakan Divison registration form submission ceremony here on Wednesday.

Also present to receive the forms was Amanah central committee member Senator Raj Munni@ Aiman Athirah Sabu.

Raj Munni when met by reporters after the ceremony said the mandate given by the people should be honoured and as such, those who have been entrusted as leaders should practice proactive leadership. — Bernama
